How can I comment at a Taft City Council meeting?

In person, or remotely through Zoom. You can also drop written comments in the drop box in front of City Hall, email the City Clerk at cityclerk@cityoftaft.org, or call the City Clerk's office at (661) 763-1222.

Is there a deadline for comments sent ahead?

Yes. Public comments are accepted up until 5:00 PM on the day of the meeting, and comments received are read into the record.

How long can I speak?

The agenda asks speakers to limit comments to five minutes.

Can I bring up something not on the agenda?

Yes, during Citizen Requests and Public Comments. State law prohibits the council from addressing an issue not on the agenda, but it may receive the comment and set the matter for a later meeting.
